Who can make suggestions?

Anyone! We truly believe that in order to bring about positive change, everyone from senior policy makers to senior citizens should be involved. Local businesses, developers, water companies, volunteer organisations, committees, parents, children, scientists, historians, commuters, dog walkers, house owners can all have their say and help to improve the river.

The river is a local asset, and everyone can benefit from its restoration. If you know of a part of the River Lea (from Houghton Regis, through Luton, to Luton Hoo Lakes) that could be better used and enjoyed, then fill in the form below to tell us what needs to be done.

We’d like to hear all of your ideas, whether your spot needs a day of litter-picking, a biodiversity survey or just some love and attention.

Please use our contact details on the right or the form below to contact us.

Practical help needed

We will post information here about projects that need help - please check back regularly for details.

In the meantime, you can do your bit to support your environment by making your garden (or balcony, windowsill or doorstep!) wild-life friendly, using this handy guide. Thanks go to David Oakley-Hill for creating it.

There's no better way to get to know the River Lea than visiting it!

This handy Upper Lea Valley Walk guide from Travel Luton tells you where to go and what you can see.

You can also join a group walk in one of the parks on the river's course.

If you prefer two wheels to two feet, use this Luton Cycle Map to plan your route along the Luton Lea.

If your local tributary is Houghton Brook, Sally's Woodside Link Nature Watch blog is a great source of information and news, particularly relating to the changes in nature during development works around Houghton Regis.
