This is the first step in the process of reviewing and updating the river management plans, last updated in 2022. A summary of the consultation responses will be published on the EA website within 12 weeks of the consultation closing.
The legislation underpinning river basin planning and other aspects of water management in England might change following the independent commission into the water sector: Governments launch largest review of sector since privatisation - GOV.UK. Whatever changes happen, the EA still want to work closely with water stakeholders to understand the challenges, identify solutions and drive investment in our shared water environment.
While the government reforms are undertaken, it is essential that environmental planning and delivery continue to protect and improve the environment and prepare for the transition. Therefore, the delivery of 2022 RBMP measures will continue to be driven forward.
