River Beane events
‘Walk the Beane’ event
On Friday 12 October 2012 a group of concerned local people, community groups and Stevenage MP Stephen McPartland came together to walk a one-mile section of the dried up River Beane. Over 50 people attended the event, which they hope their walk will raise awareness of the river’s sad state, and support the current campaign to restore flow. Read more ...

River Beane media coverage
Local MP visits stricken River Beane
Stevenage MP Stephen McPartland met with environmental groups on Friday 25 May 2012 on the River Beane, to see firsthand the impacts of decades of damaging levels of water abstraction. He met representatives of the River Beane Restoration Association (RBRA), Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT), WWF and the Environment Agency to discuss the problems facing the Beane. It is hoped that his visit will inject momentum into plans to reduce abstraction and restore the river. Read more ...
