Stevenage MP Stephen McPartland met with environmental groups on Friday 25 May 2012 on the River Beane, to see firsthand the impacts of decades of damaging levels of water abstraction. He met representatives of the River Beane Restoration Association (RBRA), Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT), WWF and the Environment Agency to discuss the problems facing the Beane. It is hoped that his visit will inject momentum into plans to reduce abstraction and restore the river.
