River Stort at Hunsdon Mead

Contractors will start re-pollardaring willows along the Stort backwater on the northern edge of Hunsdon Mead.

Local people were shocked to see a four metre high wall of foam covering the river.

These cover: rainfall, soil moisture, river flows, groundwater levels, and reservoir levels.

An average of 30 people per day are using the site.

Water buffalo

Bye bye buffs - the charismatic water buffaloes have been taken off Thorley Wash Nature Reserve for the winter.

New picnic benches

We wanted to take a moment to celebrate the brilliant work of Harlow Wildlife Projects group (Project 27 on the Stort catchment plan).  Read volunteer Colin Lincoln's account of the project here!

Make friends

This is a great opportunity to get involved with the management of Pishiobury Park, or to help out with practical conservation tasks alongside other volunteers.

New boardwalk

Project 24 of the Stort Catchment Management Plan ('Access improvements at Pishiobury Park') has been completed...so we have our first green dot on the map!

Water Buffalo

It was a momentous day as the buffalo arrived at Thorley to play their part in the restoration of the site.
