31. Whitehall Re-meandering
Themes: Flow; Water Quality, Habitats and Wildlife
Objectives:
- That whatever the flow level, the river and its associated habitats, including banks and floodplains, are managed to support chalk stream species
- That water quality, temperature and river bed quality are such that they support chalk stream ecology
Project description
to return the Beane back to its original channel.
The River Beane above Whitehall has been straightened, deepened and widened. The project aims to re-connect some relic meander on the right bank above Whitehall to re-create a more natural channel with more diverse flows and habitats.
