16. Restoration of Stevenage Brook

Objective:

  • That whatever the flow level, the river and its associated habitats, including banks and floodplains, are managed to support chalk stream species

Project description

To restore the Stevenage Brook, a major tributary of the River Beane. The Brook flows through the centre of Stevenage and contributes a large amount of the total water in the Beane.

This project is also outlined in the Stevenage Biodiversity Action plan, and includes the following actions: G10 (remove scrub from the nearby grassland), G11 (remove rubbish from the Brook) and We 38 (carry out a study to investigate the potential for restoration of the Stevenage Brook).
