The Rivers Beane and Mimram are the setting for a discussion of where we get our water from and the price, financial and environmental, we pay for it.

In the episode, entitled 'Sold Down River', presenter John Waite investigates where our water comes from, why it is so cheap, what climate change and increasing population mean for future water supplies, and the environmental damage caused by the current abstraction licensing system.  He discusses the 'lamentable stewardship' of our precious chalk rivers with Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust's Charlie Bell, among others.
Recording was done on site on both the Beane and Mimram, with the contrasting health of these two rivers providing the context for the programme.
The episode will be available to listen again for three years.  Find it here!
