On Thursday 30 July 2015, a large gathering of locals celebrated the reopening of the beloved suspension bridge that spans Wardown Lake in Luton's Wardown Park.

The bridge has been under (re)construction for the past four months and the result was certainly worth the wait! The opening was marked by a poetry reading, speeches (including from the Mayor of Luton, pictured right) and a ceremonial walk across the bridge. Invited guests were also treated to a cream tea in the park.

The event tied in nicely with the national Love Parks Week, and Wardown Park's green flag was flying proudly.

If you haven't crossed the bridge yet - what are you waiting for?
