13. Team building: Certsure

Themes: Community engagement and participation; Promoting appropriate and sympathetic land management

Objectives:

  • Increase public access to and involvement in the river
  • Control or eradicate invasive non-native species

Project description

In October 2014, a group of Certsure employees travelled from Houghton Regis to Leagrave Park for a team building day.

Led by Groundwork's project officer, they spent their time doing conservation tasks at Old Marsh and Sundon Brook.

As well as clearing more of the marsh to make public access easier, they removed some elder trees to make room for the almond willow and some lower native chalk vegetation, and pulled up a lot of Canadian Golden Rod (an invasive species).

The Luton Lea Catchment Partnership would like to work with more local organisations on projects along the river. Find out more about our corporate and team building days and get in touch if you're interested.
