6. Ponders End Place Shaping Priority Area
Theme: Biodiversity
Objectives:
- Increase surface water management at source
- Restore an ecologically complex structure to the channels
- Improve riverine and riparian habitat
Project description
Located in the east of the borough between Ponders End and Lee Valley Park, the area covers approximately 70 hectares, much of which is an area of deficiency in access to nature. Improvements to the public realm are already underway and will include several biodiversity enhancements. The Place Shaping documents will provide an outline design to bring forward nature based and other leisure activities in the Lee Valley Regional Park contributing to the Catchment Plan’s aim of providing opportunities for communities to enjoy and take pride in their local environment.
