Welcome to the website of the Lower Lea Catchment Partnership, and the home of the Lower Lea Catchment Management Plan.  Our Catchment Plan will improve the river for wildlife and for people. It will also help us to meet the UK's obligations under the Water Framework Directive.

Plans to release beavers into the wild in England have been set out in a consultation launched on the 25 August.

The Environment Agency are seeking views on how the WINEP can be updated to ensure that it is delivering benefits for the environment. Closing 16 September 2021.

eel pass on Holyfield Weir

Two eel passes have been installed on Holyfield Weir on the Lower Lea. This means eels now have access to an additional 3 km of the river as well as 55 ha of good quality still water habitat. This work has formed part of the Conserving Slimy Wrigglers project. A short film about the installation can be seen here
