Creating a passageway for Hertfordshire’s slimy wrigglers
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) together with support from Environment Agency and the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, has installed two new eel passes in the Lower River Lea to aid eel migration from the River Thames. Read more...
Two eel passes have been installed on Holyfield Weir on the Lower Lea. This means eels now have access to an additional 3 km of the river as well as 55 ha of good quality still water habitat. This work has formed part of the Conserving Slimy Wrigglers project. A short film about the installation can be seen here.
