35. Water Vole Reintroduction Project

- That whatever the flow level, the river and its associated habitats, including banks and floodplains, are managed to support chalk stream species
- To monitor the status of the river and its species to gauge if its condition is improving
Project description
This project will investigate options and carry out the reintroduction of water voles to the River Beane.
This project will rely on the successful control of mink in the River Beane catchment and the identification and restoration of appropriate water vole habitat. Once both of these criteria have been met steps will be taken to reintroduce water voles to the River Beane where they have been absent for several years.
