16. Fish bypass at Hardmead Lock

Project description
To improve fish passage throughout the Lea catchment, Hardmead radial gate replacements will also include the construction of a fish pass and an eel pass. This is to allow fish to carry out their lifecycle by migrating upstream and downstream, allowing local populations to interbreed to create stronger immunity, as well as reach the best spawning grounds.
It will allow fish and eels to travel freely across up to six miles of river.
