After more than two years' worth of work, the Manor Road Park project has come to an end.
Funded by Affinity Water and Luton Borough Council, this project has revitalised the local environment and habitat along part of the River Lea that runs through Manor Road Park in Luton.
The improvement works provided a number of key benefits to the area:
- The habitat of chalk streams have been restored and improved
- The river has been connected to the surrounding environment thanks to the removal of concrete steps, which confined the river along the edge of the park behind iron railings
- A new flood plain will provide an additional 1,550m3 of flood capacity, which will help ease flooding further downstream during times of high flow
