  • Increase surface water management at source
  • Restore an ecologically complex structure to the channels

Project description

Currently Meridian Water is an underused brownfield site of over 70 hectares on the waterfront of the Lee Valley near Edmonton. Three of the borough’s watercourses run through the site and the site is adjacent to both the Walthamstow Marshes and the Lee Valley Park.

From the outset, there has been a strong emphasis on designing in biodiversity to the area. Key opportunities include:

- A robust green infrastructure component including:

- Widening and enhancement of the Lee Valley Corridor

- De-culverting and enhancing Salmons and Pymmes Brook

- The creation of new parks and open spaces

- Strong design guidelines for biodiversity enhancements, tree planting and landscaping
