4. Project Reedbed

Themes: Water quality; Biodiversity

Objective:

  • Improve riverine and riparian habitat

Project description

Reedbeds remove pollution from rivers, provide habitats for wildlife and improve the aesthetics of the river

The Lea Navigation has undergone significant modifications resulting in the loss of habitat such as reedbeds.

Reedbeds are critical habitats for fish, invertebrates and birds, and act as a critical refuge at times of heavy pollution.

We propose to introduce new reedbeds along the length of the Lea Navigation
